07.04.08 4th of July starts out with a Mailbox Fire

Toney Fire starts a busy 4th of July of brush fires and medical calls with a Mailbox fire that was started by a firework just a little after 2am. The fire was quickly extinguished but the plastic mailbox did not survive.

07.03.08 Barn fire threatens a mobile home in Bobo

Toney Fire was dispatched as third due to assist Bobo and Hazel Green Fire Departments for a working structure fire threatening another structure.  The structure involved appeared to be a barn.  The adjacent trailer got hot enough to melt the mini blinds inside the windows and the rear door window pane.  However, no further damage was reported.  The barn was a total loss.  Cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

07.03.08  MVA at Old RXR Bed and Toney Rd.

Toney was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment and ejection. Upon arrival crews found negative entrapment or ejection. HEMSI arrived on the scene and two patients were transported to Hunstville Hospital. Cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

07.01.08 Hay Bale Fire on Dan Crutcher Road

TVFD responded to a possible field fire.  Upon arrival, units located a hay bale on fire.  The bale was ignited by a faulty part inside the baler attachment.  Firefighters broke the bale apart and extinguished the fire.  Thanks to Brennan Bell for the pictures. 

06.26.08 MVA at Ready Section Rd. and Old R.R. Bed Rd

Toney VFD responded to a two vehicle wreck with possible injuries.  Both vehicles suffered heavy damage, but thankfully no one was injured. 

 

 

06.24.08 MVA with possible entrapment Hwy. 53 & Jeff Rd.

Toney Fire and Rescue assisted Harvest VFD for a wreck with possible entrapment at Highway 53 and Jeff Rd. about mid-day.  Harvest fire reported negative entrapment, but kept Toney in route for traffic control, which was very heavy at the time.

06.21.08 Structure Fire backing up Merdianville for RIT

TVFD was dispatched to assist Meridianville and Hazel Green fire departments during a working structure fire for a rapid intervention team (RIT).  Shortly after however, interior crews were ordered outside to a defensive mode due to roof collapse.  Toney Fire stayed in route and assisted with salvage and overhaul operations. 

06.10.08 Vehicle fire on Baites Road with burn patient

TVFD was dispatched to a possible gun shot patient, but upon arrival the patient was found blocks away by the Sheriff's Department. The subject was found not with a gun shot wound but with minor burns to the legs.  While units were in route to treat this patient, Captain John Penny found a 2007 Tahoe in a field on fire.  Bystanders advised that there was possible entrapment.  However, quick knock down of the fire found no one inside. Cause of the vehicle fire and the burn patient is still under investigation but are related.

06.08.08 Wreck with injuries on Pulaski Pike

TVFD was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment on Pulaski Pike.  First units on scene advised negative entrapment with only minor injuries. Patient was transported to Huntsville Hospital by HEMSI. Cause of accident is still under investigation.

 

05.30.08 Vehicle fire behind Ready Cemetery

TVFD was dispatched to a vehicle fire threatening a structure. First arriving unit advised the vehicle was fully involved. Fire was quickly brought under control and damage was contained to vehicle only.

 

05.22.08 MVA Toney Road and Jeff Road

TVFD was dispatched to a MVA with negative injury.  Vehicle lost control at Toney Road and Jeff Road.

05.18.08 MVA Carter Grove and Ready Section

TVFD was dispatched to a wreck with possible entrapment.  First units arriving on scene advised that there were 3 patients confirmed entrapped. Patients were rapidly extricated and transported to the hospital.  1 by helicopter and two by ground.

05.13.08 MVA HWY 53 and Old RailRoad Bed Road
TVFD was dispatched to a MVA with possible injuries. Upon arrival units found two vehicles with minor damage and negative injury.

05.10.08 Structure Fire on Carters Gin Rd.

Toney and Harvest VFD responded to a reported structure fire on Carters Gin Road at 11:51 p.m. First unit on the scene advised heavy fire showing. Engine 114 laid a 5" supply line while an aggressive attack on the fire was made by crews stopping it mid way through the trailer. Primary search was conducted and found the house unoccupied. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

 

05.10.08 2nd Annual Golf Tournament
TVFD's Second Annual Golf Tournament was held at Fox Run Golf Course and was a great success. We want to thank all who participated, sponsored and donated items, we hope to see you all again next year.

05.07.08 MVA Pulaski Pike and Ready Section

Toney VFD responded to an MVA with injuries at the intersection of Ready Section and Pulaski Pike. One patient was transported to the Hospital.

Pet Oxygen Mask's

TVFD is now equipped with pet oxygen masks and carry them on each engine. Thanks to Marti and Vern Dill for donating these masks. This contribution may one day save the life of a dear pet.
