| 07.26.08 Early Morning Mobile Home Fire on Morris Lane | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire Dept. along with Bobo F.D. responded to a possible mobile home on fire around 2:00am Saturday morning. E214 arrived on scene first and reported the mobile home fully involved. Firefighters from both departments worked together to bring the fire under control containing it to the center of the structure. Thankfully there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

| 07.24.08 Structure Fire on Macedonia | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney fire was dispatched as second due backing up Bobo Fire on a possible structure fire. First unit on scene reported a mattress on fire in a bedroom. Firefighters experienced heavy smoke conditions, nevertheless the fire was quickly put out. Positive Pressure Ventilation was used to clear the smoke and the mattress and box springs were removed from the home.

| 07.22.08 Lightening Possibly Causes 4 Alarm Fire | ||||||||||||||||||||

Toney VFD was dispatched as second due backing up Harvest VFD on a possible structure fire during a strong thunderstorm passing through the area. Responding units had difficulty in transit due to very heavy rainfall. First units reported the structure fully involved. Bobo and Monrovia VFD's were also requested to assist. Operations at one point had to be suspended and cover taken in an adjacent garage as a second thunderstorm passed. The house was a total loss and was possibly caused by lightening.

| 07.10.08 Five Alarm Structure Fire on Grimwood Road | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire Dept. was dispatched to a possible structure fire around midday Thursday. Heavy smoke was showing from several miles out. First unit on scene reported a two story structure fully involved. The roof had already fallen in and both first and second stories were involved. In addition to Meridianville Fire, second due, Bobo, Hazel Green and Harvest Fire departments responded. Due to the long distance from the structure to the fire hydrant water had to be shuttled to the frontline engines. Five engines and one tanker worked to provide water to fight the fire which was done very effectively. The fire was brought under control quickly, however a lengthy salvage and overhaul followed. HEMSI provided medical stand-by and Red Cross furnished drinks and snacks for the firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

| 07.07.08 Brush Fire on Travis Drive | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire wall called out for a possible field fire. E214 arrived first on scene and reported someone burning a rather large brush pile. The owner was advised of the ADEM no burn in place and the fire was extinguished.

| 07.06.08 Structure Fire on Cherita Lane | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Harvest and Toney Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire Sunday morning. First units on scene advised that there was heavy smoke showing. An aggressive interior attack on the fire was made and it was contained to one section of the attic. One Toney firefighter was sent to the hospital when a section of ceiling collapsed on top of him. Thankfully, he was released from the hospital shortly there after. A lightning strike the night before may have started the fire.

| 07.04.08 4th of July Starts Out With a Mailbox Fire | ||||||||||||||||||||

Toney Fire starts a busy 4th of July of brush fires and medical calls with a mailbox fire that was started by a firework just a little after 2am. The fire was quickly extinguished but sadly the plastic mailbox did not survive.

| 07.03.08 Barn Fire Threatens a Mobile Home in Bobo | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire was dispatched as third due to assist Bobo and Hazel Green Fire Departments for a working structure fire threatening another structure. The structure involved appeared to be a barn. The adjacent trailer got hot enough to melt the mini blinds inside the windows and the rear door window pane. However, no further damage was reported. The barn was a total loss. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

| 07.01.08 Hay Bale Fire on Dan Crutcher Road | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
TVFD responded to a possible field fire. Upon arrival, units located a hay bale on fire. The bale was ignited by a faulty part inside the baler attachment. Firefighters broke the bale apart and extinguished the fire. Thanks to Brennan Bell for the pictures.

| 06.21.08 Structure Fire backing up Merdianville for RIT | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
TVFD was dispatched to assist Meridianville and Hazel Green fire departments during a working structure fire for a rapid intervention team (RIT). Shortly after however, interior crews were ordered outside to a defensive mode due to roof collapse. Toney Fire stayed in route and assisted with salvage and overhaul operations.

| 06.10.08 Vehicle fire on Baites Road with burn patient | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
TVFD was dispatched to a possible gun shot patient, but upon arrival the patient was found blocks away by the Sheriff's Department. The subject was found not with a gun shot wound but with minor burns to the legs. While units were in route to treat this patient, Captain John Penny found a 2007 Tahoe in a field on fire. Bystanders advised that there was possible entrapment. However, quick knock down of the fire found no one inside. Cause of the vehicle fire and the burn patient is still under investigation but are related.

|
TVFD was dispatched to a vehicle fire threatening a structure. First arriving unit advised the vehicle was fully involved. Fire was quickly brought under control and damage was contained to vehicle only.

| 05.10.08 Structure Fire on Carters Gin Rd. | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney and Harvest VFD responded to a reported structure fire on Carters Gin Road at 11:51 p.m. First unit on the scene advised heavy fire showing. Engine 114 laid a 5" supply line while an aggressive attack on the fire was made by crews stopping it mid way through the trailer. Primary search was conducted and found the house unoccupied. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

| 04.23.08 Abandoned Structure Fire on Conley Drive | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney VFD assisted Meridianville and Hazel Green on a working structure fire. The house was not occupied. E-314 laid 900' of 5" hose, connecting to Hazel Green's additional 500'. Due to the combined efforts of all three departments. the fire was brought under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

|
Toney and Bobo fire departments were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Carters Grove Rd. Firefighters found a mobile home fully involved. However, the fire was quickly brought under control, but the home was a total loss. In addition, Bobo EMT's responded to a burn patient just minutes prior to the structure fire. The two incidents reportedly were connected. The cause of the fire and the connection to the burn patient remain under investigation. |
TVFD responded as second due with Harvest VFD to a reported kitchen fire. The fire was reported out upon arrival. Firefighters ventilated the structure with a PPV and also had the opportunity to give a tour of the fire truck.

| 04.05.08 Chimney Fire on Grimwood Road | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire responded to a reported chimney fire. First units confirmed the dispatch. A PPV was used at the front door in conjunction with a dry chemical extinguisher on the interior of the fire place. The fire was brought under control, but due to the heavy concentration of creosote inside the chimney, a hose line had to be used from the roof to fully extinguish the fire. Meridianville Fire also responded. |

TVFD was dispatched to a working structure fire early Sunday morning with Hazel Green VFD second due. First arriving firefighters reported smoke inside the residence. E-214 arrived and two pre-connects were stretched to the structure. Firefighters determined the fire was inside the wall behind the kitchen cabinets. A small amount of fire was also visible on the exterior of the home. Some sheetrock was taken down while outside siding was removed and the fire was contained to a small area. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

| 03.25.08 Structure fire on Stilwell Drive | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
TVFD along with Harvest F.D. was dispatched just before noon for a structure fire with possible entrapment. First units on scene reported smoke and flames showing, with all occupants out of the house. Firefighters made entry through the front door and located the fire in a second floor bedroom. The fire damage was contained in the interior to that bedroom, but there was heavy smoke damage throughout. There was also damage to the exterior of the home in the rear and a wooden fence. Thanks to Monrovia, Harvest and Bobo F.D.'s for their assistance. Also, a big thanks to Rick and Andy with HEMSI Medic 12 for their help until additional manpower arrived.

|
Toney Fire responded to a reported vehicle fire near gasoline pumps. C514 arrived first and reported the vehicle fully involved but not threatening any pumps or structures. Firefighters made quick work of the fire, but the vehicle was a total loss.

| 03.02.08 Grass Fire Threatens Two Structures | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney VFD was dispatched to assist Bobo and Hazel Green VFD's for a field fire threatening two structures. Through the efforts of all three departments the fire was brought under control and both structures saved with minimal damage. However, a dog was located inside one of the structures during a primary search. The dog appeared to have been living in the abandoned structure, but seemed to be in good health. The animal was taken to a safe location temporarily and the proper authorities were notified. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

| 02.28.08 Mobile home fire with fatality | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire along with Bobo VFD responded to a reported structure fire at a mobile home. The first Toney unit on scene reported the structure was heavily involved. E214 arrived first and firefighters immediately deployed lines to begin fighting the blaze. Also of major concern was a large propane tank at the back of the structure that was being threatened by the fire. Firefighters made forcible entry through the back door to begin a primary search of the home. Neighbors stated that there was a strong possibility that someone might be inside. The primary search was completed up to a collapsed roof finding two deceased dogs. Sadly, units outside the structure who were still fighting fire, located one victim and another dog at the end where the roof had collapsed. Thanks to combined efforts of both departments the fire was effectively brought under control and authorities began their investigation as to the cause of the fire. | 02.17.08 - Kitchen Fire on Hoover Circle | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire was dispatched along with Harvest VFD shortly after midnight for a kitchen fire with a possible smoke inhalation patient. The first unit to arrive reported smoke inside the residence. Medics and HEMSI tended to one patient on scene, but did not transport. Firefighters made entry into the house and found flames in the kitchen. The fire was quickly put out and contained to that area.

| 02/10/08 - Garage Fire on Ready Section Road | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
TVFD responded with Bobo VFD to a detached garage reported to be on fire and threatening the main residence. First units reported smoke and flames showing. Firefighters rapidly worked to protect the main house while also knocking down the fire in the detached garage. The garage was a total loss, however the main house was saved with only a minimal amount of damage.

| 02/08/08 - Brush Fire Opp Reynolds | ||||||||||||||||||||

Toney, Bobo, Hazel Green, Meridianville, and Harvest fire departments worked together to bring a large field fire under control. High winds helped to spread the fire rapidly, but quick work by all of the responding departments were able to put out the fire.

| 02/08/08 - Multiple Vehicle Fire On Highway 53 | ||||||||||||||||||||
|
Toney Fire was dispatched to a grass fire involving multiple vehicles. First units reported approximately 15 vehicles on fire as well as the field fire continuing to spread. Bobo fire was requested to assist and the grass fire was cutoff and contained. Firefighters were then able to concentrate on the vehicles. Heavy smoke conditions due the close proximity of the cars to one another made for difficult visibility but despite the conditions firefighters quickly put the fires out. The cars were wrecked former police cars and were a total loss.

Toney Fire was dispatched to a vehicle fire on HWY 53 and Old Railroad Bed Road. First arriving units on the scene reported light smoke and flames showing. Flames were quickly extinguished.
